As a natural offshoot from the work we did to reserch the USAAF Folkingham for the Folkingham Heritage Festival in September 2024, we took a look at Bourne and it’s surrounding villages at the same time. From the people who came to those who were left behind, a fasinating story emerges of a population in flux and an area altered by the vagaries of the war years.

This could never be a comprehensive insight into the whole of the happenings in our corner of Lincolnshire during the war years, but a taster of what life would have been like for those left behind.
