The Birth, Life & Death of a Village School
A Publication by The Pickworth Local History Group
Back in 2009 the Pickworth Local History Group were pleased to receive an element of funding from the Local Heritage Initiative to enable them to create and publish a book on the local history of Pickworth (Sleaford).
The book entitled “Pickworth: A South Lincolnshire Village” was written and published and went on to win the Flora Murray Award in 2011.
As part of the research into the village school, the then occupant, Rosemary Buchan, carried out an immense amount of work reviewing the contents of the 3 log books held by Lincolnshire Archives. From the information they contained together with some first-hand accounts from previous pupils, Rosemay was able to create an engaging history into the school from inception to closure.
There are a few copies of this publication still available.
If you would wish to purchase a copy at the heavily reduced price of £5.00 plus p+p if required, please contact The Aveland History Group to arrange.
