Worth 200 Logo Competition

In October 2024 the Worth 200 Group launched a competition across the primary schools in Bourne and Thurlby to create a logo design that captures the essence of Charles Frederick Worth and that can be used to promote the bicentennial celebrations of his birth in Bourne throughout 2025.
We were handed quite a task to choose a winner from a sizeable entry and to whittle it down to a selection of designs to be worked up and elaborated by our team designer, Ben Connell. The 11 finalists were awarded certificates and two final ideas, by Holly and Kaleb of Thurlby Community Primary Academy were put forward on social media, for the public to select their favourite. Holly’s entry was selected as the winning design. Her idea is based on the famous head and shoulders image of Worth and cleverly, she drew the outline of Worth between two dresses. It was this outline that inspired our designer to create the character that we have today.
We would like to thank all the young people who participated in the competition and congratulate our finalists, all of whom received a certificate and prizes kindly donated by Wake House, the birthplace of Charles Frederick Worth.

Bourne Academy Primary: Francesca, Jerusha and Leah
Bourne Elsea Park C of E Primary: Charlotte and Amelie
Thurlby Community Primary Academy: Holly, Kaleb, Henry, Alice, Merryn and Betsy

ABOUT WORTH 200
The Worth 200 Group is a collaborative effort by many groups and charities within the area, including the Aveland History Group; Bourne Civic Society; Bourne History Group; Bourne Old Town Hall; Bourne Town Council; Bourne U3A; Bourne United Charities; Bourne Worth It WI; Future of the Past; Len Pick Trust and of course, Wake House. Each entity is working to deliver activities relating to the House of Worth, established in Paris by Charles Frederick Worth who is renowned as The Father of Haute Couture. Activities take place throughout 2025, culminating in a major celebration over the weekend of 11th and 12th October 2025, as this is closest to his birthday on 13th October.
