Join Gina Barrett and learn how to make the famous Dorset ring button. During this workshop you’ll learn how to make the Crosswheel button and, if time allows, a “Singleton” button.

Gina Barrett is a local textile artist and author, best known for her buttons. She has made numerous buttons and other trimmings for museums, TV, film and designers, making historical reproductions and designing new items based on historical techniques. She has written numerous books to keep these techniques alive. She enjoys many forms of handwork, incorporating techniques from around the world to create trimmings. She and her husband, Mark, run Gina-B Silkworks, bringing these traditional textile crafts to a broader audience.

All materials to make the buttons will be provided on the day, but please bring along small scissors and reading glasses for close work, if you need them.
